Dance at Home
Put on your favorite tunes and dance while you do housework, dance with the people you love, dance for the pure joy of connecting with your body in motion.
Why dance at home?
Connect with yourself. It is entirely possible to remain in your interior world when you dance in class, but for many, the temptation to connect is irresistible. Spend some uninterrupted time exploring and solidifying your relationship with yourself. Learn to love the dance you do when you are alone. - Get a great cardiovascular workout. Step up the pace and feel a great alternative to standard activities like running, brisk walking, stair climbers and treadmills, swimming. Dancing at home is so convenient and motivationally joyful.
- Build your strength and flexibility. The coordinated breath techniques you learn in Body Joy Dance create the opportunity to get a great core workout while you dance. The non-linear nature of dance gets you moving in many planes (unlike the linear activities listed above). Dance builds your strength, reflexes, balance and flexibility in new ways.
- Stay loose. Use the foam roller and pokey ball to loosen up and then cool down with the stretches you learned in class.
- Get still. The internal focus available in your dance at home will help you to build some meditative quiet into your day.
