Holistic Physical Therapy is simple and elegant, arising from the best of science, a skill I have honed over 35+ years. Clients come to me for Holistic Physical Therapy in Sacramento, CA with specific body challenges, long standing or relatively new. We talk about the symptoms: how they came on and how they behave. This guides us in assessing active movement of the injured region, the feel of the corresponding joint and muscle structures and the contribution of overall posture and alignment. Together we find movements that reliably re-create the pain. Then we move into specific hands on table work to release the tight structures that an educated guess has determined might be creating the problem. When we are satisfied we have dialed it in, we fine tune the self-care, ways to specifically loosen what is tight, stabilize what is weak and lengthen what is short. And we take a look at the bigger picture of how it all plays out in posture and alignment.
This is a logical healing approach but exclusively working with this standard clinical paradigm was one of the reasons I had to move out of the big world of western health delivery. There is so much more to therapy than the physical. For many of us, the physical body is the most reliably profound path to the realm of emotion and spirit. When we finally become still and quiet enough to pay quality attention, the body can speak volumes. My peaceful studio in the trees of East Sacramento is the perfect place to listen.
Injuries, habits, genetics and our years with gravity on this planet create unique challenges for all of us. Come explore your body and spirit and heal the shoulder, neck, back, hip, knee or ankle that keeps you from fully participating in activities you love. For you dancers and yoga students . . . I am passionate about supporting you. Let me show you how to incorporate simple techniques into your warm-up so that you can more fully surrender to your practice. A single session will totally move you; a few visits spread over time is an amazing gift.
