No matter what your faith, let heart opening music move you to dance your blessings. Connect with a great community at YLI on the second Sunday morning of the month. The possibilities are endless for playing and praying with your body in motion. Tap into the group energy, explore your interior world, let grace open, shine and set the tone for your precious Sunday. . YLI is a 1930s mid-town structure with high vaulted ceiling and a "small version of Clunie" feel. Treat yourself to an exploration of your interior world and connect with a great community.
What happens in class?
Session is held in meditative silence. A warm up wave followed by an opportunity to set an intentional prayer for your dance; more than a full hour wave following. Closure is in a circle to anchor our intention.Honor your spirit:
- We move in silence. Mental activity is inevitable; verbalizing often decreases the power of the message emerging from your interior world.
- You are your own authority. Participate in the manner that feels right for you and let others have the experience that is right for them.
- Recognize and honor boundaries. Some people choose to move with or touch each other. Others choose to dance alone. Both are O.K.
- All your expression is welcome here. Sometimes movement brings up emotion. Let it flow and keep moving. Let others have their own experience; there is no need to "fix" someone else.
- Arriving in time to warm up and staying present through the closing circle will help you have the fullest experience.
Honor your body:
- Start slowly with stretching and movement. Stay hydrated. It is perfectly acceptable to rest for awhile or stay in rhythm while lying down or sitting or walking.
- Be in relationship with your aches and pains. Move in ways that feel healing; increased pain with motion is not healthy. Please let the facilitator know if you have sustained an injury during class.
- Foot support may be needed; soft-soled shoes or dance shoes are the best choice. Dancing barefoot will help to ground you, build your balance and reflexes and strengthen your feet. Many dancers build tolerance to barefoot by beginning a session without shoes and then slipping them on as soon as they feel any discomfort.
- Celebrate the incredible joy of your body in motion and have fun!
